甘明饴
Mingyi Gan is a New York-based illustrator and graphic designer. She is the founder of her own imprint, Mgan Studios, through which she publishes personal projects and experimental works. As an unique and versatile visual artist specialized in vibrant color and fashionable composition, Mingyi also masters profound human body modeling and preeminent line quality. Through visually captivating and intellectually stimulating original artworks, Mingyi explores her understanding of the world within the boundaries of neoteric surrealism.
Rather than drawing direct inspiration from contemporary illustrators, Mingyi finds creative fuel in diverse fields such as music, architecture, graphic design, and fashion. She extracts the essence of these influences to craft her distinct artistic language, continually pushing the boundaries of her practice. Living in the East Village, she draws inspiration from every step, from graffiti to vintage shop displays. For Mingyi, New York is a living canvas, offering tangible resources she eagerly assimilates through exploration and experience.
She has primarily worked on posters, cover art (albums, comics, books, etc), graphic design projects, and animations, with a growing body of self-published zines and books.
